Billed as a “Rockin’ Dinner Club,” Sambuca is one of the few places you can have a fantastic dinner and then stay to dance the night away. Located in Houston’s historic Rice Hotel, the menu consists of everything from calamari to pizza to beef tenderloin to miso-glazed sea bass. The club offers live music every night of the week, so check who’s playing before you go. Saturday night is always “rock night,” but Latin jazz is a staple and usually peppered throughout the week.

If you’re in the mood to dance, there’s no better place than Club Tropicana. Appropriately located in what used to be a dance studio and packed tight into a strip mall, this rocking nightspot’s dancefloor gets very crowded around midnight. The live band sets the stage for some of the best dancers in the city, who all call this place home on Saturday nights. If you’re new to salsa dancing, don’t worry. If you come early the club’s staff offers a salsa dancing crash course that starts at 9 p.m. for the uninitiated.

Price: Dance lessons at $5/lesson

While Elvia’s looks more like a restaurant than a club, this place will blow you away with the caliber of dancers that frequent this joint. The owners have recently redone the smallish dancefloor to make it larger, as it was desperately needed. When the live band comes on at 11 p.m., you better hit the dancefloor or get out of the way as this place is for dancing, not socializing. Want to impress a new love interest with a unique and fun date? Elvia’s offers salsa and rumba lessons; check out their Facebook page for full details.
